Managing Director of Risk
Gary, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of The Greensage Group, has spent the last thirty years expanding his knowledge-base, developing and actively managing his vast network of personal and professional relationships, while continuously defining and refining his professional skill set as it pertains to anything involving ERISA. Gary began his insurance career in 1991 after graduating Cum Laude from Auburn University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting. Gary spent just over six years on the carrier side with a company by the name Home Life, developing his knowledge of welfare plans (specifically self-funded) and qualified plans as well as the contracts written underneath them. It was in 1997 that Gary proudly and eagerly decided to partner with his father, Dennis, accepting the challenge of establishing and growing the Employee Benefits side of their family business.
Today, Gary spends most of his time, along with Dennis, actively managing the partnership they have created over the last three decades. At heart, Gary is an entrepreneur and enjoys the daily challenges that come from being actively involved and ultimately responsible for every aspect of the business. After all, The Greensage Group is a family owned and operated business in which both Gary and Dennis’ name is on the door.
Gary’s life-long passion has always been to help others and is one of the main driving forces as to why he initially pursued a career in insurance as well as ultimately choosing to transition to the brokerage side of the business. It is there that he gained the autonomy to focus his time and energy on creating a diverse team of people to become invaluable resources for their current and future client partners. Today Gary focuses on partnering with both Private Equity Firms as well as Stand-Alone Entities providing the tools, guidance, support, and expert resources necessary to maintain compliance on his client’s Welfare and Qualified plans. He strives to be the best by continuously seeking new and creative ways to help clients drive down SG&A and increase the Enterprise Value of their organizations.
When Gary is not tending to business, you are most likely to find him doing something outdoors. Gary’s outdoor passions include (but are not necessarily limited to) golfing, fitness, hunting, and fishing.
